Majid Michel Gives Lecture At American University

Majid Michel, Ghanaian actor is billed to present a paper titled “Being An Actor in the African Film Industry” at  the University of Louisville in Kentucky, USA today on the 30th of September 2011. The lecture will be delivered under the auspices of the Department of Pan African Studies, a department at the college where courses on African culture, history, film and politics are taught at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

According to a statement released by the organizers of the event:

“In the lecture, Majid Michel will discuss the fascinating history of the video filmmaking in Ghana and elsewhere in Africa, how acting and technical talent has developed over the years, as well as the financial and technical challenges that filmmakers have to overcome to market their work. The lecture will be preceded by a screening of the award-winning film, Somewhere in Africa, and is expected to draw a diverse audience of professors, students, members of the Ghanaian Association of Louisville, the larger City of Louisville community, Indiana, and beyond. There will be a Question & Answer session after the lecture, followed by a party to be hosted by the African Students Union and Pan African Graduate Students Association”.

Majid Michel is currently on a tour of U.S to promote his latest movie “Somewhere in Africa” which premiered in L.A last weekend and another premier is slated for Saturday October 8th 2011 in Atlanta.
