Lola, played by Omoni Oboli is a free spirit who is fed up of her parents constantly comparing her to her late sister Kemi. There is great fiction in their household because of this. Ngozi, played by Stella Damasus is a student who is struggling to support her mother and younger siblings. Her friend persuades her into joining her in town doing runs. She also embarks on a mission to exert revenge on the person that plunged her previously wealthy household into poverty. A teenage girl played by Sylvia Oluchy is being abused by her uncle.
Akaeze (Artus Frank) the Prince of Utonkon, Benue State is obsessed with Erimma (Nuella Njubigbo), the most beautiful woman in the community and wants to marry her. She however is not in the slightest bit interested in him, siting his filthy habits such as nose picking, spitting and incessant itching as the reasons why she would never agree to be his wife. Unperturbed Akaeze is determined and concocts a plan with his uncle to push Erimma’s father into being indebted to him so that he will have no choice but to offer up his daughter as a bride or go to prison. It remains to be seen if the plan will work.
Lisa played by Jackie Appiah and Chris played by Prince David Osei are in an arranged marriage and although Jackie is willing to make a go of it after dumping the love of her life Chris is cold towards her and refuses to do anything but live in the same house and sleep in the same bed together. He too has had to sacrifice his love for Martha, someone he dated for many years before he was ordered by his father to marry Lisa. A fateful day brings them back together when Chris’ car breaks down in front of her house as she is going for a walk. The ex lovers are brought face to face. Will they reunite their love? Christy played by Mary Uche and Janet played by Evelyn Ogbili are best friends. After Christy is cheated on by her boyfriend she moves to Lagos for a fresh start. Meanwhile Janet is dating Godfrey played by Tuvi James and wants to marry him but her father has promised her to his old man boss in exchange for a flash car. Things are not looking good for Janet, will she too flee to Lagos to join Christy?
Steph has spent 7 years in school without being certified a graduate simply due to the fact that, although attending and completing assignments, she has not been paying her fees. She comes from a poor family and was assured by the dean of students that she would be allowed to graduate. Of course when she refuses to sleep with him he refuses to stick to his word and so she leaves school with nothing to show for it except a brilliant mind. What is a brilliant mind when you have nothing to confirm it in the job world?
Mary and Kingsley are childhood sweethearts. Mary’s mother is not in favour of the relationship as Mary has been promised to another man. The family are indebted to him as he put Mary through school and takes care of the family’s financial needs. Ifeoma is a tomboy and dressing like and acting like a man is getting her into serious trouble at home. On one occasion she is beat up by a guy who sees her out with her sister Imelda. She bumps into this guy by accident and a fight ensues because he has been trying to toast Imelda and feels that Ifeoma is cockblocking. On another occasion their house is stoned by thugs and it appears to be Ifeoma’s fault, although that is never made clear why. Her mother becomes sick with stress and worry and so plans to marry her off as quickly as possible.
Jane appears to be a happily married woman. Her husband cares for and is devoted to her. Who would have thought a business proposal for a 10 million Naira sponsorship could throw her into so much turmoil? Collins approaches John’s (Jane’s husband) company for 10 million naira funding to set up his own business. Without knowing who was asking for the money Jane advised her husband to not release the funds, claiming that it would be a bad business move. It is only when Collins returns to the bank to plead his case for funding and meets Jane in the office that we learn that they know each other.
