Grace’s mother’s death throws her life into disarray. She is unable to return to school and complete her education as her uncle has stolen all her mother’s savings and is encouraging her to take up a trade and get married instead. Unable to raise funds to continue her schooling she takes the opportunity to go with a family friend to Lagos with the promise of a living with and being educated by her sister’s family. Things are looking up, but how long will it last?
I arrived Nigeria sometime in late 2002, I think not long after the popular movie Ukwa. Then I walked into my aunts house one evening, and behold sitting and having dinner in my own aunts house is Stella ukwuegbu, she played the lady cheating on her husband with the prophet in that movie Ukwa, and the prophet himself, both of them sitting, eating with my aunt and I was so excited, I did not waste a minute in telling them, I really have to start acting o, but that I just came in for studies. She told me, whenever, am ready and am willing, she will take me to the office and register me. That was it…so; I knew how to get in, even though because of school, I did not get to really register till late the following year.
Amaka Mustapha played by Omotola Jalade Ekeinde is a college girl hated by her roommates who accuse her of stealing from them. One day when they set upon her Goriola played by Artus Frank comes to her rescue and saves her from their wrath. It would seem that she is innocent and has been mistreated by her roommates however when he drops her back off home his wallet disappears. She really is a thief but the question is what drives this impulse? One minute she can be so pleasant and sweet and the next she is stealing anything that she can get her hands on.
Sylvia played by Tonto Dikeh and her friend come into contact with Collins played by Seun Akindele when they knock him over in the road on a dark night. Sylvia is driving erratically as they are escaping from a hotel room where she had seduced her friends father in order to steal documents on behalf of her friend. Desmond played by Yul Edochie and Lola played by Annie Macaulay are engaged to be married but their relationship is being put in jeopardy by a girl that Lola keeps meeting in his home who claims to have been dating him for years, however when Desmond is around she disappeared. Is she a ghost?
Nollywood Movies Review: Derrick played by Omalicha Chuks and his wife Melissa played by Uche Dili are having problems conceiving and it is the root of all their arguments with each one blaming the other. The prince too played by John Dumelo has issues concerning the same thing. He is being pressured into having children, as his wife, played by Ini Edo and he are childless after years of marriage. He is visited by the elders of his community to ask why he and his wife have not yet had a child. The Igwe is concerned that there will not be an heir.
Ben (Yemi Blaq) and Nora (Nse Ikpi Etim) meet by chance on the roadside. Nora is being verbally abused by a driver after she cannot pay him, claiming that she has lost her purse. Ben sees a lady in distress and comes to her rescue, paying the driver so that he can go away. They swap numbers and very quickly the two are an item and in love. Nora is contemplating marrying Ben, when the status quo is knocked out of kilter. Her ex fiancée resurfaces begging for forgiveness and a chance to right his wrongs. Not only is he begging for a chance but so it her best friend’s brother Tony. What is a girl to do?
Ini Edo plays Princess Oluchi. She is thought of as a snob on campus because of her attitude, her royal attire and the guards that accompany her everywhere she goes. It is not until she makes friends with Nkem, played by Tonto Dikeh and realises that she too is a princess but stays understated that she starts thinking that it is not a necessity to flaunt her status at every given opportunity.
The movie tells a story about a Prince Michael who is due to be married to a girl from a rich family that his parents have picked for him but in actuality wants to marry his own choice who is a girl from a poor home. I can tell straight way that the movie is going to be boring. It starts off that way and continues that way. It is an uninspiring unoriginal below mediocre story about a prince and a pauper *YAWN* Similar to Palace Maid but even more drab. There is nothing new in this movie and nothing to evoke any sort of reaction but yawning…
A poor local boy called Matthew; after finding out that serious money is to be made from fighting on the street enters a local competition. He wins his first fight, makes some money and gets himself a manager, Doug. Soon he becomes a feared and renowned street fighter called Street President or “Preso” as his manager calls him. Tied to the streets it is only the love of a woman that takes him out of it, but the pull is strong and though his body is out of the streets his mind is still there…
Mabel is Paulicap’s down trodden and long suffering wife. She has been with him for 15 years and they share a son, but this is not enough to keep him from hitting on every pretty lady in town. His wife catches him at a hotel on different occasions emerging from rooms with a different lady each time. She has been humiliated and disgraced by her husband, at the end of her tether she know longer knows what to do with herself. She spends her time crying, and praying about the situation, hoping that Paulicap will change.
