The Fake Prophet

Udofia played by Charles Okafor is involved in a human trafficking racket run by Honourable Igbinosa (Big Fred Ezimmadu). Between Udofia and Igbinosa they ship off young naïve Nigerian girls to Europe supposedly for legitimate jobs which in reality are prostitution. When Udofia is almost caught with trafficked girls by police during a routine stop he flees to his village in Akwa Ibom State to escape Igbinosa’s wrath. With no money, education or discernible talent he turns to a new career as a preacher and soon enough after performing miracles with hired actors he is respected in the community as “an anointed man of god.” He declares certain children witches and takes huge sums of money from their parents in order to deliver them from witchcraft. Of course he is unable to do so and so declares such children as beyond being delivered. Udofia is soon responsible for several deaths of children and exile of others in the community, notably Ekaette (Grace Amah) and Inyang (Samuel Ajibola) who have been accused of being Witch and Wizard after Ekaette’s father’s death.

Benedict has a history of cheating and spending extravagantly on random babes and so his wife makes him take a vow of faithfulness, a guarantee that he will not cheat on her if he wants any part of the money. Despite promising to his wife and himself that he will not cheat temptation is thrust before him and it is not long before he is up to his old tricks.

Ben and Anita played by Nonso Diobi and Chika Ike respectively are exes who are reunited one day by a chance meeting in a restaurant. Ben is back from a long stay in the US, while in the meantime Anita has been married and widowed. Her husband died a mysterious death and she was blamed for it by his family. She however believes that the house that she lived in with her former husband, nicknamed House of Love was to blame as ever since then no one has lived there for more than two months before a death happening under mysterious circumstances. Ben was unaware of the house’s history and puts a down payment to rent the place.

He comes to her rescue by putting her in his car and taking her home. Their paths happen to collide again, this time at a fast food joint. Ahmed is too scared to approach Gracie as he believes that Bright, played by Chigozie Atuanya is her boyfriend. Once Ahmed does his research and finds out that Bright is in fact just a friend he begins to pursue Gracie relentlessly, however there is a problem he is Muslim and she is Christian.

He does not appear to be particularly interested in any of them until his friend CY, played by Dadi Uche comes to him with a proposition. CY wants to marry Marcus’ sister Lucy (Ejenobor). At first he is opposed to the idea but after accepting a car as a gift from him throws himself wholeheartedly into the mission of getting his sister to accept CY as a suitor. The only problem is that his sister has her eyes on someone else…

The film opens with a couple being attacked inside their home by armed robbers. Even when the man is at risk of being killed and has a gun to his head he still refuses to tell the robbers where the money is. Is money more important than your family’s life? Even when he hears one of the robbers telling another that the informant has given reliable information that there is 200,000 in the house the man is still resistant. Of course in the end the robbers get their hands on the loot and the man gets to keep his life.
