Lola (Genevieve Nnaji) and Uzo (Joseph Benjamin) meet during her youth service and are married after a 3 year courtship. On their wedding night Lola, a virgin is raped by armed robbers who break into their hotel suite, right in front of her new husband. Both bear the emotional and psychological burden that the rape places on them. She is emotionally scarred and has trouble having sexual relations with her husband, while her husband bears the guilt of not being able to protect her when she most needed him to. Their marriage is only two months but they are already seeing a marriage counsellor. It remains to be seen if they will be able to break down the psychological walls that keep them apart.

Their families are virtually at war with each other and so they make the decision to keep their relationship on the down low and start meeting each other late at night when no one will see them. The relationship is short lived as a series of events follows that changes the life course of all those involved.
The film opens with a couple being attacked inside their home by armed robbers. Even when the man is at risk of being killed and has a gun to his head he still refuses to tell the robbers where the money is. Is money more important than your family’s life? Even when he hears one of the robbers telling another that the informant has given reliable information that there is 200,000 in the house the man is still resistant. Of course in the end the robbers get their hands on the loot and the man gets to keep his life.
The opening scene of the film is with the leader of a group- the Sisterhood of the black bra – initiating some new recruits. The premise is that the group exists to “fight chauvinism.” The new recruits are given a beatdown, the reasoning behind it that they will become fearless and will “never fear being beat by a man..”
