Tragedy strikes for happily married newlyweds Pabi and Jimah when a domestic accident involving hot oil leaves his face horrifically disfigured with second degree burns. This Nollywood goes Hollywood movie definitely looks like it is going to be one to watch out for and starring Nollywood’s very own Yemi Blaq! Goooo Yemi! African Academy Award-nominee Leila Djansi’s much anticipated movie “Sinking Sands,” starring Jimmy Jean-Louis, introducing Ama K. Abebrese, and Yemi Blaq. The film tells the story of a couple, Jimah (Jean-Louis) and Pabi (Abebrese) in a loving marriage which turns into one of violence and abuse when Jimah becomes disfigured in a domestic accident.

Ben is back from a long stay in the US, while in the meantime Anita has been married and widowed. Her husband died a mysterious death and she was blamed for it by his family. She however believes that the house that she lived in with her former husband, nicknamed House of Love was to blame as ever since then no one has lived there for more than two months before a death happening under mysterious circumstances. The root of Preye’s wild and promiscuous behaviour is the sexual abuse she endured as a child in the hands of her uncle. It is as though by taking control of her sexuality and becoming a seductress in such a dominant way she is trying to wash away that feeling of being powerless as a child. By contrast Mosun is the complete opposite to Preye, disgusted by the idea of casual sex and dowdily dressed to downplay her sexuality. She too has been a victim of child sexual abuse at the hands of her step-father.
